해리포터 원서 읽기 1권, 챕터 7&8, 그리핀도르 해리

안녕하세요 프리 라이언입니다.

지난주 참 바빴습니다. 여러가지 마쳐야 할 일들이 많다보니 이제야 해리포터 밀린 포스팅을 합니다.(저는 북클럽에서 함께 읽고 있는데 일주일에 두 챕터씩 읽고 있습니다.)

Chapter 1-7 The Sorting Hat

They finally enter Hogwarts and are greeted by Professor McGonagall. In the Great Hall they will first undergo the Sorting Ceremony using the Sorting Hat, an old wizard's hat.

1학년 무리들은 드디어 호그와트에 입성했고 맥고나걸 교수님이 환영해주십니다. 대강당에서 그들은 아주 오래된 마법사의 모자였던 쏘팅 햇(분류하는 모자)을 이용해서 반 분류 세리모니를 할 것이다.

While they wait, about 20 ghosts pass by; among them the "Fat Friar", an old Hufflepuff student, talking about "Peeves", the poltergeist.

기다리는 동안 20명의 유령들이 지나갔다. 그중에는 오래된 허플펍의 학생인 팻프라이어도 있고, 그가 말거는 간호사 피브즈도 있다.

The students notice the strange ceiling of the Great Hall, dotted with stars. Hermione tells those around her that the ceiling was bewitched to look like the sky outside. She read it in Hogwarts, a History.

학생들은 대강당의 천장에 별들로 수놓은 천장을 보면서 놀라워했다.

허마이니는 이것이 강당밖의 별을 바로 볼 수 있게 해놓은 것이라고 말하면서, 호그와트의 역사 책에서 봤다고 (또) 말한다. 재잘재잘

Harry, Ron and Hermione are all sorted into Gryffindor, along with Lavender Brown, Seamus Finnigan, Neville Longbottom and Dean Thomas. Sorted into Hufflepuff are Hanna Abbott, Susan Bones and Justin Finch-Fletchley. Sorted into Ravenclaw are Terry Boot, Mandy Brocklehurst and Lisa Turpin. Slytherin House's new students will be Millicent Bullstrode, Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Blaise Zabini.

해리, 론, 허마이니, 네빌은 그리핀도르로 분류되었다. (잘 모르는 애들은 빼고) 말포이는 슬리데린

During dinner they meet Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, also known as Nearly Headless Nick, resident ghost of Gryffindor Tower, who tells them about the Bloody Baron, the Slytherin House ghost. Neville tells a story about how he learned to fly, taught by his Great Auntie Enid and Great Uncle Algie. Hermione is talking to Percy about Transfiguration.

화려한 저녁식사중에 그리핀도르의 유령 니콜라스 경을 만난다. 거의 목이 없는 니콜라스 경(뗏다 붙였다). 슬리데린의 유령 블러디 배런에 대해서도 말해주고(슬리데린이 6년연속으로 네개반중 일등을 하고 있다고 알려줌). 허마이니는 퍼시와 말하면서 변신마법에 대해서 얘기를 나눔

Seated at the head table are Hagrid, Professor McGonagall, Professor Dumbledore, Professor Quirrell, and a teacher with a hooked nose, named Professor Snape, who teaches Potions and who knows a lot about the Dark Arts.

Dumbledore tells the students that he was asked by Mr. Filch, the caretaker, to remind them that no magic may be used between classes in the corridor.

가장 앞에는 교수님들이 앉아계신데, 해그리드, 맥고나걸 교수님, 덤블도어 교수님, 퀴럴 교수님 등 그리고 구부러진 코의 스네이프 교수님도 있었다. 스네이프 교수님은 마법의 물약을 가르치고 계시고 어둠의 마법을 많이 안다고 알려져있다. 덤블도어 교수님이 말하기를, 경호원(관리인 같은) 미스터 필치가 말하길 복도에서 이동시에는 마법을 쓰지 말라고 요청했다고 한다.

After dinner, going to Gryffindor Tower, they are harassed by Peeves the poltergeist. They have to enter Gryffindor Tower through a portrait of a Fat Lady by saying the password, "Caput Draconis"

식사 후 그리핀도르 타워로 이동중에 그들은 피브즈에 의해서 괴롭힘도 당했고, 그리핀도르 타워에 들어가려면 팻 레이디(초상화)에게 패스워드를 말해줘야 한다. (카풋 드라코니)

Chapter 1-8 The Potions Master

Harry is trying to get familiar with the school.

해리는 호그와트 생활에 적응하려고 한다.

He finds out that Argus Filch knows all that happens here and is very eager to catch students doing things they're not supposed to. His cat, Mrs. Norris, also patrols the corridors.

해리는 아구스 필치가 여기성 일어난 모든일을 알고 있고, 학생들이 하지 말아야 할일을 했을때 잘 잡아낸다고 알아냈다. 그리고 그의 고양이 미시즈 노리스도 복도를 순찰함을 알았다.

He has Herbology classes with Professor Sprout outside at the greenhouses behind the castle and History of Magic classes with Professor Binns, a ghost. P

rofessor Binns drones on while they scribble down names and dates, and they get Emeric the Evil and Uric the Oddball mixed up. Harry's Charms teacher is a tiny little wizard called Professor Flitwick. Defense Against the Dark Arts is taught by Professor Quirell.

해리는 스프라웃 교수님의 식물학 수업을 성 뒤편의 온실에서 들었다. 빈즈교수는 그들이 이름과 날짜를 쓸어쓰는동안 올라왔다.(?) 해리의 마법선생님은 작고 조그마한 플릿윅 교수님입니다. 어둠의 마법에 대항하는 마법은 퀴럴 교수님이 강의하십니다.

Hedwig brings Harry a letter from Hagrid.

헤드윅이 해그리드로부터 편지를 전해줍니다.

Snape, who teaches potions in the dungeons, appears to hate Harry. He starts asking difficult questions like "What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?" and "Where would you look if I told you to find me a bezoar?" and "What is the difference between monkshood and wolfsbane?" He admonishes Harry for not knowing the answers. He ignores Hermione, who had been raising her hand. The answer to the first question is a sleeping potion, called the Draught of Living Death. A bezoar is a stone taken from a goat which will save you from most poisons, and monkshood and wolfsbane are the same plant, and also are called aconite.
